We Are Children's ? Holiday Gift Ideas from our RN Remedies ...

A number of emails from retailers, online ?gift guides? and holiday sales and deals at this time of year can be overwhelming. There are so many gift ideas for children. But how do you know if the gift ideas are good for your child? Will it promote being active, spending time with family, ignite the imagination or encourage learning?

Children?s Hospital Los Angeles? nurse bloggers want to help. They have compiled a list of healthy holiday gift ideas that promote exercise, imagination, family time and more.

Healthy Holiday Gift Guides

Here is a printable holiday gift guide. Shopping just got easier!

  • Clay, play-dough or other modeling ?goop? for kids to play with and form figures
  • Kid-friendly baking oven or other kid-friendly kitchenware that encouraging culinary creativity
  • Board games (Connect Four is one of my favorites!)
  • Building sets to encourage critical thinking and imagination
  • Travel games for family road trips

  • A bike or scooter
  • Protective gear for the new or current bike or scooter
  • A cool new helmet or colorful reflective bands for ankles and handle bars
  • Craft supplies for fun activities with your child
  • Books (Nothing expands a child?s imagination like reading. It?s also a nice opportunity for bonding)
  • ?Helper toys.? These would include kid friendly kitchenware, a toy vacuum or plastic tools with a matching tool belt. Kids like to be just like mommy or daddy.
  • Handmade coupons your child can use for a ?date? with mom or dad (How about an afternoon of ice cream and a walk, a movie or a trip to the park?)
  • Gift certificates for outdoor fun like horseback riding, scuba lessons or dance class

  • Age-appropriate toys (Always check the age range on the packaging)
  • A cookbook with healthy recipes to encourage healthy cooking and eating for you and your kids (With good health comes many years of active fun and games all year round!)
