ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico senior Phillip McDonald, who has been hampered all season with injuries, came off the bench to score 18 points in Thursday's 87-62 defeat of Missouri-Kansas City.

Drew Gordon joined McDonald with 18 points as the Lobos (10-2) won their eighth straight game.

UMKC's Reggie Chamberlain scored 12 to lead the Kangaroos (7-7).

New Mexico opened up a close game midway through the first half with a 15-2 run as Jamal Fenton collected six of those points on two lay ups and a short jumper, pushing its lead to 25-11.

McDonald scored 11 straight points in a two-minute stretch late in the first half, helping New Mexico take a 40-24 lead at halftime.
